The Beekman School Scholarship: 5 Easy Application Steps

Authored By:
Maren Holmen, Academic Liaison

Education is one of the worthiest gifts a parent can give to his or her child. We believe in a parent’s freedom to choose a quality education that matches his or her child’s unique needs and which also nurtures a child’s personal skills and talents.

Additionally, we believe in maximizing the educational opportunity for families and children who are unable to afford to enroll their children in an independent school like The Beekman School, and we’re proud to be offering The Beekman School Merit Award—a generous merit-based high school scholarship that provides award recipients with a 50-percent tuition remission.

Because researching scholarships for high school students and meeting deadlines can be a time-consuming and sometimes disheartening experience (not to mention the complex application processes), we’ve put together an easy 5-step guide on how to apply for The Beekman School Merit Award.

1.   Ensure Eligibility: All new, incoming 9th and 10th grade students who earn a minimum 3.0 GPA during the current school year are eligible to apply for Beekman’s high school scholarship.

2.   Complete Online Application: To be considered for the award, applicants must fill out the online admission application and note “The Beekman School Merit Award” in the comments section at the bottom of the application.

3.   Write a Short Essay: Candidates must compose a 500-word essay answering the following question: “Other than academics, how do you plan to contribute to the Beekman community?”

4.   Submit Additional Documentation: The following application documents must also be submitted via email to Headmaster George Higgins at georgeh@beekmanschool.org:

·      One letter of recommendation

·      Most recent transcript from the current school year

5.   Attend an Interview: Applications must be completed before an interview takes place. Finalists and their parents will be contacted to set up an interview at the school once an application has been received.

We look forward to hearing from all eligible applicants who are ready to realize their educational goals. For additional information about The Beekman School’s high school scholarship, please check out the corresponding FAQs section.
