The Beekman School's Biology Curriculum
Biology is an exciting and rapidly growing field of study. This one-year course is an introduction to the biological sciences. It provides students with an opportunity to explore problem-solving by means of the scientific method; the chemistry of life, cellular and sub-cellular biology, metabolism, cell reproduction, genetics, animal organization and survey, the human body and basic ecological and evolutionary principles. Laboratory periods are used to reinforce the topic currently being considered and allow students to acquire reasoning skills for scientific investigations.
