Affective education concentrates on developing and strengthening students' belief systems, emotions, and characters. To learn traditional subjects optimally, students must expand these aspects of their personality. By supporting the growth of these traits, students have a more stable foundation on which to build their understanding of the standard high school subjects.
At The Beekman School, teachers are in a unique position to foster and enhance particular traits due to the small size of our classrooms (averaging 6 students in each). These classes allow teachers more one-to-one time with each student and also facilitates a free exchange of ideas encouraging exemplary academic growth.
Our student-centered affective education differs from the education in more traditionally-structured schools. Beekman teachers get to know each student as an individual. This personalized tone in the classroom promotes the students’ appreciation and grasp of our teaching styles and educational content.
Personalized Learning through Affective Education
Our high school successfully transitions students into a college environment because of teachers who facilitate the cultivation of a firm academic foundation. Our affective education classrooms provide a healthy, secure environment for students to be themselves. Beekman’s classroom learning experience carries no judgments, supports an inclusive atmosphere, and is another significant ingredient to the success story that our students write during their time with us.
We invite young men and women of all backgrounds to join our exciting center for affective learning. Learn more about our private school's application and admission process here.
